Human Rights and Social Policy in New Zealand

New Zealand is known for placing a strong emphasis on human right laws. It has two main laws in place, namely the New Zealand Human Rights Act 1993 and the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990. It has vowed to protect human rights in the international spheres as well.

As far as social policy is concerned, New Zealand focuses mainly on social development. Its objective is to ensure favorable outcomes for its citizens. It places emphasis on the adequate distribution of well-being. Hence, well-being serves as the yardstick for the effectiveness of the implementation of New Zealand’s various government policies.
